LINDA VISTA (KUSI) — An apartment building was set ablaze Sunday in the 3400 block of Kearny Villa Lane in Linda Vista forcing residents to evacuate before firefighters quickly put the fire out.  The fire department arrived at the scene and acted quickly, putting the fire out in less than half an hour, one of the apartment residents said.  The fire started on the upper floor of the building causing significant damages and leaving little left of the apartment unit. All residents were evacuated safely and there were no injuries reported.  The cause of the fire is still unknown. 

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WCMH) — Officials with the Chattanooga Fire Department are reminding people of the potential consequences of riding with their feet propped up on the dashboard. This pose may be comfortable, but it’s also dangerous. “Airbags deploy between 100 and 220 mph. If you ride with your feet on the dash and you’re involved in an accident, the airbag may send your knees through your eye sockets,” the Chattanooga Fire Department reminded people  last Thursday on Facebook. Mary Gomez, property manager, said at the start of each rental year, she spends time teaching some residents the basics, such as how to run a garbage disposal, use a gas stove and hook up a phone. "We have to get them on the bus," Gomez said. "You're like a mother hen." The Saxony also loans out vacuum cleaners, mops, hair dryers and irons and will provide other cleaning supplies. Whenever I put on a pair of shorts, I immediately start going through a list of insecurities in my head: I think my legs are too stubby, my calves are too wide, my lower half is too short. When I finally convince myself that it's way too hot out to even bother with this internal struggle, I put them on and find that keeping them under control is a nuisance in and of itself, having to adjust, pull out my front-wedgie, and actively monitor the cameltoe situation when I feel the inseams ride up into my groin.
