UPDATE @ 8:40 p.m. Kettering police tonight confirmed an officer was involved in a shooting tonight , but would release few other details. The Dayton Daily News I-Team’s officer involved shooting database – which keeps a tally of area officer involved shootings since 1995 – does not show any shootings involving a Kettering officer during that time period. UPDATE @ 7:15 p.m. A Kettering police officer shot a driver this evening after the man who got out of a minivan was pointing a gun at the officer, according to witnesses. (WDTN Photo/Charlisa Gordon) VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – A man was found dead inside an apartment in Vandalia after police had reports of a standoff situation . Family member of the deceased man called him earlier and they said he had a worried tone to his voice. Then family members called police to check on the man 12:30 PM. The Vandalia Special Response Team was called to the home, on Heather Court near Stoney Springs Road around 3 PM for a standoff. The special response team used a bullhorn to try to initiate contact with the man.  They eventually entered the home, just after the 6 PM, found a man in his 20s dead from a gunshot wound.
