Rockwall Reads kicks off summer by bringing books to kids | Local News

This summer, books will be readily available at more than just the Rockwall County Library thanks to Rockwall Reads . Rockwall Reads is an initiative which partners the Rockwall ISD librarians and the children’s librarians of the Rockwall County Library with the goal of putting books in the hands of children throughout the community in the summer.   On June 15, Rockwall Reads kicked off its second annual summer reading initiative with storytelling, face-painting, crafts, snacks and free books at The Mission and Pebblebrook apartments. On June 28, Rockwall Reads also started a reading initiative at Lake Rockwall Estates in the mornings.  RISD library media specialists provide a story and craft every Wednesday through July from 10-11 a.m., excluding Fourth of July week. ‘Boom-mates’ find a niche amid Bellingham housing crisis

As housing prices in Western Washington continue through the roof, some Bellingham millennials have saved money by becoming “boom-mates” with empty-nest couples with space to rent. Baby boomers have been taking the blame recently for many of society’s ills, but research by the real estate firm Trulia could put this “worst generation” at the cutting edge of a way to ease the housing crunch in Whatcom County. Philomath looks at plans for apartments | Housing the Mid-Valley

The Philomath Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 980 Applegate St., to discuss proposals to add more than 340 apartments in town. Commissioners will hold public hearings on an application from Mountain West Investments that would add 258 apartments plus an office, pool, play area, open space and recreation building at 3335 Main St. and an application from J.
