Though the website has made some practical improvements to their layout, the visuals are still bare bones, and the only way to find quality options is to search and search. One young DC resident is hoping to make the experience of finding a place a bit more enjoyable. Earlier this month, 24-year-old DC resident Jamie Grigg launched Exposed Brick DC , a website that aims to “break through the clutter of the DC rental market .” In short, Grigg acts as a rental curator for those on the hunt. The Pinterest-y website highlights her picks for desirable apartments, which, she tells us, must be “affordable and cool” for her young audience . They wanted to know what was going on. So, we called Brooks Mcrae , the realtor whose name was on the for sale signs in front of the school. Galen Wasem booking photo (Photo: Williamson County Jail ) Police have identified and charged the man who they say barricaded himself in a Cedar Park apartment Thursday evening and led to a SWAT call. Cedar Park police said they were called to the Muir Lake Apartments around 7:30 p.m. Thursday for a welfare check on Galen Wasem. Wasem - who was reportedly armed with a weapon - did not respond to police when they arrived, and the Central Texas Regional SWAT Team was called. During the situation, CPPD said they noticed "movement in a vacant apartment" next to Wasem's. The SWAT team breached the door of the vacant apartment around 1:20 a.m. Friday to take Wasem into custody. Police located a handgun in Wasem's apartment, and determined he used an attic space to enter the adjacent apartment. Wasem was booked into the Williamson County Jail early Friday morning on a charge of criminal trespass. Bond information for Wasem was not listed on the Williamson County Jail...

Even with the start of a new season fast approaching , Florida’s offseason of off- field discontent continues . Firstcoastnews.com was the first to report Thursday that linebacker Ventrell Miller and James Robinson were both cited for marijuana possession on Monday.  Police were called to an on-campus apartment by a residential assistant who smelled the “strong odor of burning cannabis” coming from one of the rooms.  From the website’s report: Once inside the room, officers found a cloud of smoke and a styrofoam cup that police say appeared to be used as an ash tray. Robinson and Miller were in the room. Officers asked Robinson where the cannabis was and he said it was in his top drawer. There were two small bags of marijuana and Robinson and Miller admitted to each owning one of the bags, the report says. If you’re calling accommodations providers in La Grande trying to make a reservation for this weekend, you may be pleasantly surprised to find a few options available. Few is the operative word, however. Crowds of visitors traveling to the region are projected to be hundreds of thousands. Eastern Oregon University , which is renting out campus dorms during the eclipse weekend, has reported that only five to eight suites of the original 60 are still available. Each suite contains two or three rooms. “We do have a handful still open, but we’re still trying to catch up,” said EOU Director of Residence Life Jeremy Jones . “We don’t do this very often.” Jones said EOU uses the dorms for conferences and teams during the summer, but nothing like this. Jones is confident the EOU rooms will be full by Friday. He estimated that nearly 200 people will stay in the dorms for three nights. “We hope we’re adding value to the community and help get people here to utilize the restaurants,” Jones said....

GOOGLE’S GROWTH Google gobbles up more space in Austin high-rise: Google is growing its downtown Austin footprint , even before its first employees set foot in the company’s new space in the sleek new office tower called 500 West 2nd . The new space ultimately will house more than 450 Google employees, working on products and teams across Android, G Suite, Google Play, human resources, finance, engineering and marketing operations. Google’s new space will consolidate employees from other locations, including North Mopac Boulevard (Loop 1) and University Park just north of downtown. In 2015, Google confirmed that it had signed a lease for more than 200,000 square feet of space in 500 West 2nd, a 29-story tower that celebrated its grand opening last week. The California- based search engine giant , one of the world’s largest companies, will be the marquee tenant in the Gensler-designed building.
