Philomath looks at plans for apartments | Housing the Mid-Valley

The Philomath Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 980 Applegate St., to discuss proposals to add more than 340 apartments in town.

Commissioners will hold public hearings on an application from Mountain West Investments that would add 258 apartments plus an office, pool, play area, open space and recreation building at 3335 Main St. and an application from J. Conser and Sons that would add 84 apartments (24 one-bedroom and 60 two-bedroom) and open space, a sports court and clubhouse in the 200 block of North 19th St.

Wednesday

• The Post Carbon Institute, which recently moved its main office to Corvallis, is holding an event on creating resilient communities in the face of climate change at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave.

The keynote speaker will be senior fellow Richard Heinberg, author of 13 books, including “Our Renewable Future.” The event also will provide an opportunity for the community to meet institute staff.

Friday

• The Corvallis Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board meets at 7 a.m. at the Madison Avenue Meeting Room, 500 SW Madison Ave.
