Stone River Retirement Resort hoping for early winter opening

The 180,000-square-foot Stone River Retirement Resort will offer 128 independent-living apartments for adults 55 and older at Tara when it opens in early winter.

Resort Lifestyle Communities, based in Lincoln, Neb., submitted plans for the $30 million luxury development to Manatee County government in early 2015. The project was fast-tracked because of the size of the investment and the number of jobs that would be created.

The company is planning a job fair about 60 days prior to opening and would hire 35 to 45 full- and part-time employees, Kelly Jo Hinrichs, marketing and pre-open sales director, said this week.

“We are working with the fire marshal and permitting. We are hoping for an early winter opening,” Hinrichs said.

Monthly rentals in the three-story building will range from about $3,000 for a studio apartment, $3,000-$3,900 for a one-bedroom apartment, $4,000-$5,000 for a two-bedroom apartment, and $4,700-$5,000 for a three-bedroom apartment.

Included are 24-hour concierge service, a dining program with four options – sit-down table service, casual dining, chef’s pantry and room service – weekly housekeeping, transportation, a fitness center, a 150-seat theater with scheduled entertainment and all utilities. No buy-in or long-term lease is required. Pets are welcome.

Stone River is located at 5615 Jenny Lane, on the southwest corner of Interstate 75 and State Road 70.

Although the company has not started leasing, it has a rental trailer set up behind Stone River where prospective residents can visit to learn more about the facility and its charter resident program.

Titan Senior Living is planning its first assisted-living and memory-care facility next to Stone River.

Called Elan at Manatee, the 79,632-square-foot facility would have 95 beds.

Construction has not started at Elan at Manatee, but in December, the company’s director of marketing, Ellena C. Tapia, said a summer 2018 opening was planned.

“The development of Resort Lifestyle Communities’ adjacent independent living project will be a good neighbor for our assisted living and memory care community,” Tapia said in a December email.

Most recently announced for that same area in Tara is the proposed Woodspring Suites hotel, which is now working its way through Manatee County’s permitting process.
