Ludington's Pineview Apartments in phase one of expansion | Local
Work to construct five apartment buildings on property on North Washington Avenue has started and the infrastructure has been completed.
Tom Bogner and his father, Mitch, are working on plans to build 80 new apartments on the 8.36-acre property. Before they could start, the Bogners needed the property rezoned to accommodate multi-family homes. They received that approval in May.
The site is at 916 N. Washington Ave. and will extend Pineview Apartments, which the Bogners already own and operate.
“We’ve cleared the lot, the house is gone, and we saved the garage to reuse,” Tom said.
Towns Brothers brought in equipment to help with the water, sewer and storm sewer portion of the project. Now, it’s up to the weather and contractors to determine whether foundations will go in for the first two apartment buildings yet this year.
Two 16-unit buildings are the first phase of the project.
These will include not only one- and two-bedroom apartments as Pineview offers now but some three-bedroom apartments as well.
“We’ve been 100 percent full at Pineview since 2014 (when the Bogners took over ownership),” Tom said. “So we think (adding more apartments) looks like a good idea.”
He hopes to have the apartments completed by next fall.
“We’re hoping so,” Tom said. “But we are just happy we got all the infrastructure in.”
This initial phase starts along Washington Avenue.
“It’s as far west as we could get them,” Tom said.
He’ll use the existing drive into Pineview, but widen it, with one entry lane and two exit lanes.
