Woman found dead in pond at Madison apartment complex

A woman's body was pulled Wednesday night from a pond at the Colonial Grand at Madison apartment complex. (WHNT News 19)

Madison police are investigating the death of a woman at an apartment complex in the city. 

Police officers were called around 10 p.m. Wednesday to the Colonial Grand at Madison apartments, where they found the body of a woman floating in one of the community's ponds. Colonial Grand at Madison is located near the intersection of Madison Boulevard and Hughes Road.

Detectives are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the woman's cause of death. As of Thursday morning, the case remained classified as a death investigation. 

Investigators are withholding the woman's name as they try to find her next of kin. AL.com will update this story when more information becomes available.
