Allen Park Housing Commission named high performer for ninth straight year | News
Each year public housing is thoroughly inspected in four key areas, and for almost a decade the Leo Paluch Apartments and its management has been ranked at the top.
“Thanks to the hard work of our staff and the guidance of the Allen Park Housing Commission Board of Directors, I was able to lead our organization to our ninth straight year as a high-performing agency,” said Andrew Hill, executive director of the Allen Park Housing Commission.
The four areas that were evaluated, along with the commission’s score, are as follows:
●Financial review — perfect score.
●Management review — perfect score.
●Capital Fund review — perfect score.
●Physical review — 31 out of 40.
The combined total of the four independent U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reviews is 91 percent.
That’s good news not only to the residents of the Leo Paluch Apartments and their families, but to the city of Allen Park as well.
“Bottom line...the better we do, the better the city of Allen Park will do financially,” Hill said.
Each year the Allen Park Housing Commission provides the city payment in lieu of taxes. Hill said that in 2008, the year he was named executive director, the amount was $11,673. In 2016, the payment was $20,711, an increase of 77 percent.
“The exciting news is that the Allen Park Housing Commission has been able to experience very positive growth, year over year, during my time as executive director,” Hill said. “We are proud of our contribution to the community and the general fund of the city of Allen Park.”
The complex holds 61 units. Those who reside there must be at least 62 years old, or be considered legally handicapped or disabled at any age.
