Man in custody after 3 shootings, one deadly

5:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A man wanted on aggravated assault charges after a morning shooting has been taken into custody after two more incidents investigators believe he's involved in.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, there was a shooting around 9 a.m. at Cedar Grove Apartments where one person was injured. Shortly after, there was another shooting on Peters Road at Allen Homes Housing where a second person was injured. Peters Road is about 7 or 8 miles from Cedar Grove Apartments.

The third shooting occurred back at Richmond Hill Road West at the Cedar Grove Apartments and the victim was killed in the shooting, the sheriff's office said.

According to deputies, when they got there they took Rodney Ivey into custody. Investigators said they believe all three shootings are connected.

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Rodney Ivey, the man wanted in connection to Monday morning's shooting, has been taken into custody, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Rodney Ivey was arrested on aggravated assault charges and is being questioned on the murder that occurred on Richmond Hill Road West later in the afternoon Monday.

4:30 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Multiple Richmond County schools were placed on soft lockdown Monday after a reported shooting suspect was on the run near Cedar Grove Apartments.

The school system said Lake Forest, Langford, TW Josey, Jenkins, Wilkinson Gardens, Laney, AR Johnson, CT Walker and Wheeless Road were on soft lockdown.

A letter was sent home with students explaining the lockdown was out of an abundance of caution and the schools were not directly in danger.

The school district said if a shooting occurs within 3 to 5 minutes away from a school, they will be placed on soft lockdown.

3 p.m.

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has asked for help locating a man wanted for two aggravated assaults that occurred Monday.

The sheriff's office said Rodney Donquail Ivey, 31, was last seen wearing sweatpants and no shirt, driving a gray Hyundai Sedan on the 1100 block of Peters Road in the Allen Homes Housing Area and 526 West Richmond Hill Road in the Cedar Grove Apartment Complex.

Rodney Ivey is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

10:15 a.m.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Richmond County deputies are currently investigating a shooting that occurred this morning at Cedar Grove Apartments on Richmond Hill Road West.

According to investigators, the call came in around 9 a.m. When deputies arrived, they were notified that a 16-year-old male had been shot. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are currently looking for a suspect who goes by the name "Red," he is believed to be a black male in his 30s, with a slender build and is walking with a cane. Deputies say although he walks with a cane, Red is said to be "quick" on his feet.

Details about what prompted the shooting are currently unclear. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
