62-UNIT DEVELOPMENT INCLUDES AFFORDABLE SENIOR HOUSING
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (June 23, 2016)—More than 100 were in attendance to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting for The Ridge at Quail Hollow, the 62-unit, fourth phase of an award-winning independent senior housing community in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, that brings much needed affordable and independent senior housing to the region.
Developed by Green Mountain Development Group, Quail Hollow features 232 apartments and 50 cottages on 39 acres with market rate and affordable units for seniors age 55 and older.
“We are proud to celebrate the completion of a quality community that helps to meet the growing need for affordable senior housing in the Upper Valley, and we are honored that the project has received national recognition,” said Tom Getz, chief executive officer, Green Mountain Development Group.
Quail Hollow was recognized by the National Association of Home Builders as one of the top independent senior housing projects in the country, winning the silver award in the prestigious Best of 55+ Housing Awards. The award is given for innovation, emerging trends and quality housing that serves a mature demographic. The development also received the top recognition in the Better Homes Award from the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern Vermont.
The Ridge at Quail Hollow was one of just two projects in New Hampshire to receive Low Income Housing Tax Credits, which allow developers and investors to finance affordable housing. The credits helped build a strong team of investors that ensured a successful project, said Joe Hagan, president and chief executive officer at National Equity Fund, the syndicator for the tax credits.
“At National Equity Fund, we believe that extraordinary things happen when you have great partners, and the opening of The Ridge at Quail Hollow confirms that belief,” Hagan said. “Green Mountain Development Group along with our investor partners are providing seniors in West Lebanon with safe, affordable housing options so they can enjoy healthy and fulfilling lives.”
New Hampshire lawmakers U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Kelly Ayotte and U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster, who were all represented at the May 18 opening celebration, offered their congratulations for the project.
“The construction of this living community will provide a home for seniors in a region with a shortage of affordable housing,” Shaheen said. “Seniors will not only benefit from these convenient housing options, but will be given the chance to achieve independence and build new friendships with their new neighbors.”
Kuster emphasized the benefits of additional housing in the area.
“From receiving one of New Hampshire’s tax credits, to the Northern Vermont Home Builders association Better Homes Award, it is clear that Quail Hollow provides top-quality support to seniors from across the region,” said Kuster.
Quail Hollow is one of six senior housing developments throughout Northern New England and upstate New York developed by Green Mountain Development Group. Each community serves independent seniors by providing safe and affordable apartments, as well as other optional
services such as meals, nurse assistance and transportation. Summit Property Management Group, headquartered in South Burlington, Vermont, manages all six communities.
