Fire at apartments on Quail Hollow, Carmel
No injuries were reported Tuesday morning when fire damaged a building at the Quail Valley Apartments in south Charlotte.
The fire was reported about 6:30 a.m. at the apartment complex behind a shopping center at Quail Hollow and Carmel roads.
Charlotte fire Capt. Mark Basnight said crews found heavy smoke coming from a building when they arrived. Basnight said it took a crew of 27 firefighters a little less than 20 minutes to deal with the blaze.
He said four apartment units were affected.
Two residents told the Observer that the worst of the fire was contained to a single apartment unit. A woman who lived there was able to escape safely, residents said. Her dog also got out OK.
