A BUILDING used to train up scores of builders over the years is now to receive its own makeover to give it a new lease of life. The former City College construction and trades centre in Preston Road, Brighton, is set to be transformed into 25 apartments. Work on the transformation of the locally listed Victorian red - brick property is expected to start within the next five months and be completed by the end of next year. Brighton- based Yelo Architects said the conversion would give house hunters the rare opportunity to secure a loft apartment in the city. The scheme, which was granted planning consent by Brighton and Hove City Council planning committee last week, involves a mixture of one, two and three bedroom apartments. A local student and his homeless charity are seeking the public’s help to locate a man who has been seen sleeping near Santa Monica City Hall . 14 years old Elliot Katz runs Reaching Out California from his home and the nonprofit undertakes projects to aid the Los Angeles homeless community . The organization is branching out to help a Canadian woman locate her missing brother who was recently seen in Santa Monica. According to Katz, a woman named Ana Nunez contacted Reaching out last week for aid finding her brother Abraham Alfonso Oliva , who she said has been seen in Santa Monica close to City Hall. Abraham 61 years old, has some mental health issues but is otherwise sober. She said he used to live in North Hollywood with his mother but when his mother died, he was unable to secure housing for himself and became homeless. Sergio was responsive. Place was a basic place to stay. Nothing fancy. Sergio has made some nice upgrades (new flooring in some places, etc), but some things need some attention, like the Dishwasher wasn't working ( he had left a note on it saying so.) Furniture is mostly Ikea, so new, but kitchen set was small and not necessarily comfy. Biggest issue is that the cleaning folks had not done a thorough job, but should that improve, it would be a fine place to stay. Location is very convenient to things!!

The children's mother and three men from another apartment were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries in the fire at Colonial Gardens Apartments , 8845 Broadmoor Court, according to Jason Rhodes, a spokesman for the Overland Park Fire Department . Two of the injured men reportedly jumped from the second floor to escape the blaze. Fire investigators are looking into whether there were working smoke alarms in the apartments. They have received conflicting reports , Rhodes said. The fire was reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. at the apartment complex. CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A Chesterfield man has been arrested after police say he shot into an occupied vehicle at a Chesterfield apartment complex early Tuesday morning . Police say at approximately 3:30 a.m. they responded to a report of a shooting into an occupied vehicle at Chesterfield Village Apartments , in the 7500 block of Belasco Drive. Officers say a victim reported that a suspicious vehicle had followed him from an area convenience store to the apartment complex . “When the victim attempted to leave the area in his vehicle, a suspect in the suspicious vehicle fired a shot at the victim’s vehicle,” a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said in a statement. JFRD says power was shut off following an electrical issue Thursday night (PHOTO: First Coast News) JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Residents of a Murray Hill apartment complex are still without power five days after an electrical issue caused service to be shut off. JFRD told First Coast News crews responded to the Kingsbury Apartments late Thursday night/Friday morning and found breakers tripping and sparking, causing an obvious fire concern . JFRD said after attempts to contact management were unsuccessful, the chief on scene decided shutting off power was the safest option.
