Living at Stone Arch was really fun. The apartments themselves are just below high end but the location is astounding it wasn't a big deal. Hallways are spacious and the interior design has a creative art based minimalistic feel. Sure we heard people upstairs and the floors hurt my feet while walking without shoes. Management is Solid here but they do have much to deal with so I don't expect an Oscar worthy performance every time I go to the office. A nice cozy tucked away albeit next to the Steel Shop which can get noisy at night but all in all a very vibrant place to live with Tremendous views of Minneapolis and easy access to stone arch bridge. I miss being here and walking to Hennepin Avenue at NIGHT while intoxicated (Honey, Bulldog, New Bohemia Etc) I now live in the North Loop and realize that Stone Arch Apt might be in the best location in the entire city. Away from Traffic, Surrounded by Nature, Nearby a Park/Bridge and In the best Neighborhood I have ever seen (Marcy Holmes) in terms of blending nature, creativity, quietness and proximity to East Hennepin/DInkeytown. I would move back from the Newer North Loop Tomorrow.
I have lived in apartments for the last decade; too many to count. A location must meet certain standards for me to live on site and as far as city living goes, this is the best value. The staff (I am biased) are mostly wonderful and attentive to your needs (though office staff seems to cycle frequently as they promote within the company). Despite the new faces, everyone is happy and helpful. Maintenance and cleaning staff are amazing. Location is ideal because you're right off the highway, views of the city skyline and river, just out your front door is the Father Hennepin park and Stone Arch Bridge and you're not on a busy road (dead end to a dog park). Pet friendly, parking options, and during the summer months you have festivals and movies in the park right outside your door. Plus, there is a walking trail just in front of the building and no adjacent neighbors except.... dun dun dun METALMATIC. The cons: The builder has posted online (go dig, you'll find reviews) that some errors were made in floor construction for additional sound. You will hear your neighbors upstairs and downstairs no matter where you live or how crazy they are. The side-side neighbors will be dead to you but upstairs it will be bowling all night long - get used to it or live on the 5th floor. The windows are airport quality and when closed you hear nothing but if cracked - highway sounds and metalmatic will buzz all day EVERYDAY. Due to being by the river (Eagle in nest outside your window?!), the Metalmatic plant and the highway, there is a ton of dust. The maintenance changes filters at least 2x a year but it still can be dusty and difficult to keep clean. Otherwise, the layouts are modern and fun and the spaces are unique; friends always loved my city apartment at Stone Arch. Exposed metal vents, huge windows with natural light and killer location. Mostly students, sec 42, sec.8 and then retired high-income individuals. An interesting mix - but fun to enjoy the community events that happen monthly where you mingle over food/drink. Overall, I've never had a bug issue and despite being super pet friendly, no smells or stenches (or poop in the elevator) yet. Having lived in many apartments near the river and throughout downtown Mpls, NOT having water bugs in your apartment is a blessing worth the higher-end prices at Stone Arch.
Overall living here was ok. Some of the staff is fine and some are really horrible (sarcastic and/or fake). Location is great. Can hear everything through the walls and the residents are becoming more and more college age which makes it feel like a dorm instead of an apartment building. Loud parties, screaming in the hall etc. We had a really bad experience moving in here: there is such a waiting list for an apt here that once you have the chance to get one you have to jump on it or it's gone. That means you pay a deposit without even seeing the place. The leasing agent failed to mention that there was a $500 NON-refundable pet deposit until we were in the office signing the lease. They didn't even give me a deal, they thought they were doing me a favor by letting me pay half the first month and the other half the next. The people who lived in our place before had two big dogs so the apartment smelled like dog. We asked that they replace the carpet before we move in. They declined and said cleaning the carpets would help. We moved in and it smelled like wet dog. Instead of replacing the carpets beforehand, we had to move everything off the carpets after we moved our stuff in. Huge hassle and again, only happened once I made a stink about it. David who works in the office is just a horrible, fake person to deal with. When scheduling a final walk through before move out, he scheduled painters before I even confirmed when we could do a walk through, gave me attitude about it and then tried to make it up to me by telling me he would let me off the hook when it comes to mopping the floors. Thanks? I'd rather mop the floors than to have to deal with him ever again. The only reason this gets two stars is for the location. Right by Stonearch Bridge and St Anthony Main and close to downtown. I was glad I knew I only had a year here before I could move again. *It's been months since I moved out and I still hate this place.
Stone Arch Apartments leaves much to be desired. The apartments themselves are comfortable, but cheaply made- and for the price, not entirely worth it. Parking is grossly overpriced and cramped. The workout space is a glorified closet (ONE treadmill is not a gym, kids). No pool, no community space, no balconies or patios (unless you're on the first floor). Minimal guest parking, which is a pain in the keister. All of this I was willing to overlook (for almost a year), because I loved the area so much- until they stopped enforcing the "keep your dog on a leash" rule. If you have a fraidy cat dog like mine, a loose dog running up can be very scary. Multiple complaints and calls have been ignored, and I no longer feel safe taking my dog outside. This, combined with TERRIBLE customer service from the leasing office (seriously, they should get an award for passive aggression) meant some serious unhappiness. To cap it all off, they refused to give me my security deposit back- spouting some bull about how the new tenants didn't move in until later than expected, and so I was liable for the charge. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit and I already have a lawyer contacting the management. I had to call them to figure out where my check was, they did not contact me. All in all, I loved the area and I felt very at home in my apartment- but too many flaws made living there a very unhappy choice. I would give zero stars if I could, But Sarah in the leasing office and Mary in maintenance were the sweetest and most helpful people I met there.
I had a great experience, I had just divorced and met a crazy guy who wouldn't leave and did ridiculous things there posting stuff, arguing with the staff, I felt like a complete idiot. I loved it there, I wish I were back
Stone Arch Apartments is a great place to live. It is near the university and has lovely views of the park in front and the city skyline. I loved the industrial chic design in the building. The staff is wonderful and always helpful. Any time I needed something, they responded immediately. They have tenants and pets happy to be there.i also liked the extra touches like the opportunity to have a small garden plot, the dog park, and parties for the building...good job! Kathleen P.
These apartments blow my mind! These apartments are perfect for college grads or college students about to graduate who are just done with the college life and want to be a little more grown up. They are right on the river, and right next to bars and entertainment. I know that during 4th of July they do the fireworks right in front of them, as well as many festivals. It is in walking distance of downtown and walking distance of dinkytown. And for you dog lovers, they accept dogs of all sizes and there is even a dog park right across the street. And as for the apartments themselves, they are amazing. Very well kept, good sizes. Plus they are reasonably priced which is a HUGE plus. So I would definitely recommend these apartments to anyone.
I lived at this apartment complex a couple of years ago. My experience was so terrible (unclean, overpriced, terrible unresponsive management) that I chose to break my lease early. The best advice I could ever give someone who is looking for an apartment in NE, etc. is that you should LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE.
