Sinkhole shuts down SH 21 near Uhland

CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — Cedar Park police have a man custody after he prompted a SWAT standoff at an apartment complex Thursday night.
At around 7:30 p.m. police received a call from a female acquaintance of Galen K. Wasem’s who expressed concern about his mental health. Officers responded to the Muir Lake Apartments on 12600 Avery Ranch Blvd where Wasem refused to come out of an apartment and talk.

According to Cedar Park Police Commander Bryan Wukash, Wasem, at some point went, to a vacant unit by entering through the attic. SWAT members eventually entered the apartment and took him into custody.
At 1:22 a.m., Cedar Park Police announced the SWAT standoff had ended peacefully. An official told media that law enforcement never talked to Wasem during the standoff and only made contact through a family member.
Wasem did not have a weapon when taken into custody but police later found one in his apartment.
Wasem was booked into the Williamson County Jail and has been charged with Criminal Trespass for making entry into the vacant apartment.
Police had earlier ordered people living in buildings 11, 12 and 13 to shelter in place.
