Police say a fire at an apartment complex Thursday night was caused by someone trying to build a meth lab. It was discovered at the Boulder Ridge Apartments near 52nd Avenue. Police say the fire started in the apartment. The suspect ran out to the garage to try and put the fire out and then fled the scene. Police say they know who the suspect is and are actively looking for them. The BCI and the Narcotics Division responded to dismantle the attempted drug operation . According to police, the gas masks were only used as a precaution against the dangerous chemicals used in cooking methamphetamine. Police say there were no dangerous air readings recorded Thursday night and that is why there was no evacuation or further dissemination of facts. TULSA -- Police said two people were stabbed in a domestic incident at an East Tulsa apartment complex Sunday night . Officers responded to the Boulder Ridge Apartments near 31st and 145th East Avenue around 11 p.m. Officers discovered a woman who told them her boyfriend stabbed her. You was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Officers were later dispatched to a nearby QuikTrip where they made contact with the victim's boyfriend. That man told them his girlfriend stabbed him. He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Neither party was able to give a full statement due to their injuries. Although “granny flats,” as the name would suggest, are usually envisioned as  accessory units for extended family members , they can also be a helpful tool for creating more affordable housing, and cities are taking note. St. Louis, Boulder, Colorado, and Toronto have lately been considering accessory units to help create more affordable housing and foster “gentle density.” Now, a new pilot program in L.A. hopes accessory dwelling units can help curb the city’s skyrocketing homeless rate . The program, which was approved Tuesday by the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, will connect qualifying homeowners with up to $75,000 in funding to build accessory dwelling units on their properties that will house formerly homeless people, Curbed reports. The county is also streamlining the permitting process. Homeowners who already have granny flats are eligible for up to $50,000 to cover the cost of renovations. Read the full story at Next City. Longmont police are investigating an explosion after a man describing himself as a "hobby chemist" mixed unknown chemicals in an apartment bathroom. Cmdr. Joel Post said officers were dispatched at 12:19 a.m. Thursday to Longmont United Hospital , where a 54-year-old man was being treated for chemical burns. Post said officers learned the man was injured in an explosion that occurred about 35 minutes earlier in an apartment in the 1600 block of 16th Avenue. Three men were in the apartment, two of whom were drinking, including the 54-year-old man who described himself as a "hobby chemist." The man went into a bathroom and mixed unknown chemicals , resulting in the explosion. "There is no indication this was a narcotics related event , nor is there deemed to be any danger to the public," Post said. The 54-year-old has not being identified. A 24-year-old man and a 63-year-old man also at the apartment did not sustain any injuries, Post said. Post said the ap...
