File photo. An apartment fire Tuesday morning  at the Willow Run Apartments caused a man to jump from a balcony. The two-story fire that looks to be accidental displaced seven people, according to Mobile Fire-Rescue. The fire was reported around 8:53 a.m. at the complex at 2320 Dauphin Island Parkway . When firefighters arrived they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-story apartment, causing a second fire alarm to be issued. According to Mobile Fire- Rescue spokesman Steve Huffman , the fire started in a first floor apartment and spread upward to the second level and through the roof of the structure. A 62-year-old man living in a second floor apartment received non- life threatening injuries when he jumped from a second floor balcony. Huffman said the person living in the apartment where the fire originated escaped without apparent injury and ran upstairs and knocked on his neighbor's apartment yelling that the building was on fire.  The occupant of the upstairs apa...

The children's mother and three men from another apartment were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries in the fire at Colonial Gardens Apartments , 8845 Broadmoor Court, according to Jason Rhodes, a spokesman for the Overland Park Fire Department . Two of the injured men reportedly jumped from the second floor to escape the blaze. Fire investigators are looking into whether there were working smoke alarms in the apartments. They have received conflicting reports , Rhodes said. The fire was reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. at the apartment complex. They have a workout room, jacuzzi, pool and small business area with computers (no printer - they used to have and I wish they would replace it). It is a quiet building, with security guards and security cameras and doors so that is nice. It is very pretty in and out with no bug issues (I hate bugs! so this is major for me) The complaints about the peeling paint and general dirtiness in the stairwells has been true from time to time, but they eventually do clean and paint. We have had water run off issues in those areas, so it took a while to repair. The general upkeep is good overall. Everyone has always been very nice and friendly to me and all repair/maintenance issues are immediately addressed. You can hear people walking above, but that does not bother me.
