Man arrested for OVI blames restaurant worker for drunken state: Mayfield Heights Police Blotter

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio Impaired driving, Cordova Road: Officers responded to a domestic incident in progress around 10 p.m. Aug. 6 and discovered a man involved had left the house drunk. His vehicle was stopped in the area and he told officers he and his girlfriend got into an argument when they arrived home from a Japanese restaurant . He admitted he was drunk and said an employee at the restaurant kept squeezing sake drinks into his mouth. It was determined the argument never turned physical. The man, 48, was subsequently arrested for OVI and possession of marijuana. Suspicion, Ashdale Road: A resident reported Aug . 4 there was a suspicious vehicle in a neighbor's driveway and he believed the owner of the vehicle was selling drugs to that resident. Officers stopped the vehicle as it was leaving the area and the driver, a 62-year-old Cleveland man, said he was visiting a friend at the home. Now-tabled condos by the bay draw outrage in Fairhope

By Jane Nicholes When news got out of a proposed condominium project at the base of the bluff near the Fairhope Municipal Pier , public reaction rivaled the outcries against the Fly Creek apartment project and the construction of Walmart. Since The Fairhope Times blog posted the news on Facebook on Aug. 13, it has received 242 comments, many of which consist of “No!” with varying numbers of exclamation points. An online petition against the proposal had drawn 295 signers as of Sunday night. The proposal was withdrawn last week from the Board of Adjustments and Appeals agenda for this past Monday, but it has called public attention to the fact that tucked into Fairhope’s signature waterfront of public pier, rose garden, municipal beach, sidewalks and parkland is a piece of private property.
