(WDTN Photo/Charlisa Gordon) VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – A man was found dead inside an apartment in Vandalia after police had reports of a standoff situation . Family member of the deceased man called him earlier and they said he had a worried tone to his voice. Then family members called police to check on the man 12:30 PM. The Vandalia Special Response Team was called to the home, on Heather Court near Stoney Springs Road around 3 PM for a standoff. The special response team used a bullhorn to try to initiate contact with the man.  They eventually entered the home, just after the 6 PM, found a man in his 20s dead from a gunshot wound. Valentina Livshits says the mysterious visitors came to her in Rostov-on-Don about a month ago, offering to buy her plot of land in the center of the southern Russian city at a knockdown price. CHESTERFIELD COUNTY , Va. --- A man is facing charges after opening fire inside a Chesterfield apartment complex . Officers arrested Yeison Medina -Cruz in connection with the incident. He has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm, but additional charges are being considered. Officers responded to reports of a shots fired in the 7500 block of Bannockbarn Drive in the Chesterfield Village Apartment complex off  Midlothian Turnpike near Chippenham Parkway around 1:20 am Saturday morning. Witnesses reporting hearing gunshots inside the complex, responding officers also heard shots upon arrival. The Sacramento County Sheriff ’s Department is investigating whether the fatal stabbing of a 54-year-old woman found in her apartment Tuesday morning is connected to the death of her nephew, who was found hours earlier on Fair Oaks Boulevard just over a mile away. Dispatchers received a 911 call about 8:30 a.m. saying a woman was found dead in her apartment in the 1100 block of Bell Street. A relative of the woman had gone to her apartment after she failed to show up at work earlier in the morning. When deputies arrived, they found a woman who had been stabbed multiple times . She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner identified the woman on Tuesday night as Linda Jeanette Zachmeyer . Zachmeyer was found hours after the department’s homicide detectives found the body of a man on Fair Oaks Boulevard just after 4 a.m. Tuesday. Danish firm  Schmidt Hammer Lassen  has released visuals of its first US project: a mixed-use development in Detroit, Michigan, bound by two glazed towers overlooking the city's historic theatre district . Schmidt Hammer Lassen was commissioned for the  Monroe Blocks scheme by developer Bedrock Detroit , and is working on the design with local architects Neumann Smith and engineering firm Buro Happold . Two glazed towers will stand at either end of the 1.25- hectare development boarding Monroe Avenue , the city's historic theatre district . Its oldest remaining theatre , the National Theatre by renowned Detroit architect Albert Kahn , stands on the site. It was built in 1911 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [embedded content] Virginia Beach , VA. – Two people were taken to the hospital after an early morning apartment fire in Virginia Beach . Firefighters say the fire started just after 3 a.m. at the Linkhorn Bay Apartments in the 500 block of Pine Song Lane .  Firefighters arrived on scene and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the apartment building . A second alarm was immediately called.  One female victim was rushed to the hospital with severe burns over her body and another male victim was transported for a broken leg. It took firefighters almost an hour to put out the fire.  The fire has damaged 12 apartments. Firefighters say 22 people are displaced. Red Cross is on scene this morning to help those affected by the fire. Firefighters say the cause of the fire was due to improperly discarded smoking material a second floor balcony.
