JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - Police are investigating a deadly shooting in west Jackson. It happened in the 1500 block of West Highland Drive at the Highland Square Apartments . Jackson police tell WLBT News the victim is an unidentified black male . "It was outside the apartments actually," said Officer Colendula Green . "It was a verbal and physical altercation, according to witnesses, which led the victim being shot multiple times ." The other individual in the fight was taken into custody. CHEYENNE – It has been a tumultuous couple of months for a tidy suburban neighborhood in north Cheyenne . Residents of The Bluffs started hearing about the affordable apartment complex planned for their western border near Converse Avenue in mid-spring. They got a presentation from Summit Housing Group at Anderson Elementary School , which sits in the northwest corner of the neighborhood, not long afterward. Police investigate a deadly shooting Wednesday , July 12, 2017, near North Pecos and East Bonanza roads in Las Vegas. (KSNV) LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) —  The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a man was shot and killed Tuesday night at the Playa Vista Apartments near North Pecos and East Bonanza roads . The victim was identified Friday as 28-year-old Justin Martin. No residence was available for Martin. He was shot multiple times and his death was ruled a homicide by the Clark County coroner . Officers say Martin arrived at the apartment with a woman who lived at the apartment. According to police, the woman went inside her apartment and Martin stood outside. A confrontation took place between him and someone else. Witnesses say they heard several shots, and Martin was killed. Police say a suspect is still on loose. Next week, the $75 million Washington-Wabash ‘L’ station will make its grand debut in the heart of the Loop. Starting August 31, the new station will officially be open to the public. Having been under construction for nearly three years, the contemporary station replaces the former stops at Madison-Wabash and Randolph-Wabash under one roof as a new Loop superstation. With a central location in the Loop, the station will service the Brown, Purple, Orange, Green and Pink lines. According to city officials, the construction project has been financed entirely with federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds and will feature recycled materials , new LED lighting, and will also meet ADA compliance . The city is experimenting with the technology as part of its annual smoke testing of the sewers, which helps crews spot trouble spots underground . It will be a first for the city’s public works department , though engineers across the country are discovering public uses for drones — including inspecting bridges and ditches in Minnesota. This year’s smoke testing will focus largely on areas in Northeast and Southeast clustered around the central Minneapolis riverfront . STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Funeral arrangements have been made for 31-year-old Vincent Castro, who was  found fatally shot in his West Brighton apartment on Friday. A funeral service for Castro will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in Hanley Funeral Home in New Dorp. Visiting hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., according to Dawn Reilly, Castro's sister. Reilly said Castro acted like a father-figure and a partner-in-crime to her 18-year-old son. "He became an uncle to my son when he was 14-years-old," Reilly said. "Vinnie has been there for my son. I don't know what to say to my son who lost an uncle. The laughter they would bring; the comedy they would bring. I can go on the rest of my life with memories, but it's never going to be the same because Vinnie is not here." About eight units at the apartment complex are on fire, according to firefighters on the scene.  No one was injured in the fire, officials at the scene said. The fire apparently started in the roof above the apartment occupied by Michelle Elliott. Elliot, who was on the couch making plans for her birthday next weekend, said she did not know that her apartment was on fire until neighbors knocked on her door and told her flames were coming through the roof. Hallways are spacious and the interior design has a creative art based minimalistic feel . Sure we heard people upstairs and the floors hurt my feet while walking without shoes. Management is Solid here but they do have much to deal with so I don't expect an Oscar worthy performance every time I go to the office. A nice cozy tucked away albeit next to the Steel Shop which can get noisy at night but all in all a very vibrant place to live with Tremendous views of Minneapolis and easy access to stone arch bridge .
